U.S. Open Series Tennis in New Haven

Yesterday, Tim and I went to the Yale Tennis Center in New Haven, Connecticut for part of the U.S. Open Series. (These are tournaments leading up to the U.S. Open.) We left Massachusetts at 6:30am and returned last night at 2:00am. Needless to say, it was an all-day event! The gates opened at nine and the tennis quarterfinals in men's and women's singles and doubles began at 10:30am. There were three courts open with back-to-back matches being played on them. The passes we purchased allowed for us to go to any of the matches on any of the courts! Between the two of us, we watched all or part of 8 matches! I'm not even sure who all we saw play! The tennis center was set-up with all types of vendors, eateries, a food court, a pro shop, and even a "sports zone" where you could test your own tennis skills. It was a fabulous day together! Two highlights.... we saw American tennis player, James Blake, and Tim caught an official U.S. Open/U.S. Open Series ball (they give out the ones the players use in their matches)!
