Amish Friendship Bread

A couple of weeks ago, one of my teacher-friends brought in some "yummy goodness" called Amish Friendship Bread. After enjoying a piece (or three), I asked for the recipe... little did I know that I would be in the midst of a ten-day process of mushing, adding ingredients, and passing on other bags of this "starter" that she brought me! Long story short, this ended up being a fun project, and I realized what little time is actually spent on creating something wonderful these days... we, as a society and culture, want things "yesterday" and fast isn't fast enough! I have been reminded to slow down and take note of the process of life, not just the results. And when we try and enjoy the process, the results are so much sweeter.

Oh, my goodness! We did the Amish friendship cake thing last Fall, and while it was really wonderful at making our house smell fantastic and making our mouths water, it grew out of control and I had to finally kill it! It would have been great if I'd had enough people to give it to, but they were all trying to find people to give theirs too as well! Enjoy--it is really good : )
